school tours

We welcome school groups who are interested in learning more about contemporary art. With guided tours, a member of our exhibition or education department will meet with your group and talk about the work on view. If you have a particular subject interest area, let us know. We’ve coordinated fascinating tours for math and science students, as well as history and the humanities.

Teachers are also welcome to conduct a self-guided tour at their own pace. Depending on the work on view at a given time, we can also coordinate workshops inspired by the exhibitions, providing a hands-on experience for students. There is a small materials fee per student for these workshops. Groups must register for both staff-led and self-guided tours at least one month in advance of their visit. You can do this by calling our office or emailing us at information@arlingtonartscenter.org. The availability of a staff-led tour is not guaranteed, but self-guided tours can be scheduled for any time. We require that there is one adult chaperone for every ten children, (2 for every 10 children under the age of 5). Teachers are reminded to be sure their students understand the appropriate behavior in an art center.
