Fantasy Forests
Ages 4-6

Imagine talking trees, singing flowers, and people that live in a fantasy forest. This is just the beginning of creating magical worlds. Use colors and textures in a variety of ways to create imagery of all the different lives and events in a world where anything is possible if you have imagined it. Inspirational artists include turn of the century illustrator John Bauer,and Chinese masters of brush and ink.

Modern Masters – 20th Century
Ages 4-6

Learn about color, shape, motion, and all the basics. Draw inspiration from several celebrated 20th century artists who are known for bold colors, daring creations, and experiments in painting, sculpture, and drawing.

Creative Creatures
Ages 4-6
3:00 – 4:30 PM
Imagine a flying alligator with wings or a purple polka-dotted cow. Learn about animals and their individual characteristics and then use water color, construction paper, photographs, and lots of imagination to create a menagerie filled with new animals of your own invention.

Ages 7-10

Miniature to Fresco Painting
Ages 7-10
10:00 – 11:30 AM
Study and practice traditional painting techniques to depict everyday life today. Illustrate a town of people doing normal activities, as Persian artists would have of daily life. Paint with gold to give importance to a scene of an important family event in your life as Renaissance painters would have done for special events and people. Create a fresco of an idyllic landscape to brighten your day every time you see this lovely work of art.

Amazing Architects & Engineers
Ages 7-10
12:30 – 2:00 PM
Study the work of civilizations and artists past and present who combined art and engineering to design architectural innovations such as the Roman Empire’s Colosseum; the Cathedrals of the Gothic Era; as well as innovative architects of our time, Norman Foster and Thomas Heatherwick. Become familiar with the vocabulary and techniques used by these artists.  See how their goals, and influences lead them through their creative process. Then through a variety of 2D and 3D mediums design your own architectural wonders.

Scavenger Hunts and Game Arts
Ages 7-10
3:00 – 4:30 PM
Look for art clues in the AAC galleries to make you a better observer and to inspire art projects. You will discover new ways of mark making, as well as how to use repetition, and texture. With these principals in mind create dynamic drawings, paintings, and puzzles in the classroom. You will also create you own board game with the themes and imagery of your choice. Parents and guardians, you will be invited to a student led tour as part of this course.
